Professional Standards, Governance & Complaints
My commitment to providing a professional service
I am committed to providing a professional, ethical and compassionate counselling service where you feel safe, respected and supported throughout our work together.
As an integrative counsellor, I work in accordance with the ethical standards and professional guidance of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I also undertake regular clinical supervision and continuing professional development (CPD) to ensure my knowledge and practice remains safe, effective and up to date.
I value openness and honesty within the therapeutic relationship. If you have any questions or concerns about the support you receive, I encourage you to discuss them with me so we can work towards resolving them together.
Complaints Procedure
If you are unhappy with any aspect of the service you have received, I encourage you to raise your concerns with me in the first instance.
Please contact me using the details below:
Email: fiona@avdtherapy.co.uk
I aim to acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and provide a full written response within 14 working days, where possible. If the issue requires a more complex investigation, I will keep you fully informed of any adjusted time frames.
If we are unable to resolve your complaint together, or you feel your concerns have not been addressed appropriately, you may be able to escalate your complaint through my professional body, the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
Further information about the NCPS complaints procedure can be found on their website.
Data Protection & Privacy
Protecting your personal information is an important part of my professional practice. I process personal data in accordance with UK data protection legislation and take appropriate steps to keep your information secure and confidential.
If you have any concerns about how your personal information has been handled, please contact me in the first instance so I can investigate and respond.
You also have the right to raise concerns with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's independent authority for upholding information rights.
Feedback
Feedback is always welcome and helps me continue to improve the service I provide.
Whether you would like to share a positive experience or suggest an area for improvement, I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. My aim is to provide a professional, respectful and supportive service for every client.
